2012 Carmona (USA) Fiesta

In honor of St. Joseph, this year’s Fiesta was celebrated on March 24th, 2012 in West Covina, California. The special celebration was graced by our Congressman, Atty. Roy M. Loyola, our Mayor, Dra. Dahlia A. Loyola, and their delegation. It was a fun-filled night with the special bonus of getting important information on what’s happening at our dearest town of Carmona from Mayor Dahlia’s updates (we also got a copy of her latest SAMYO – Ulat Sa Bayan), and of course, Congressman Loyola gave us an overview of what’s happening in the 5th District of Cavite (CARSIGMA). Congratulations on all your accomplishments. We also had great conversations with Atty. Jun Mapanoo, Mr. Domeng Flores, Ms. Edwina Ledesma, and Fr. Andy Manaog.

As always, out-of-towner Carmonians took the effort to be with their kababayans – they came from Australia, Canada, New York, Washington D.C., San Francisco, San Diego, etc. The sumptuous food, entertainment, games, dancing, variety presentations, the wonderful hospitality of the LA Carmonians, and the happy spirit of all Carmonians whenever they gather together made the event a big success.

Congratulations and a big “Thank You” to all. See you in SF next year. May God and our Patron, St. Joseph, bless all of us always.

30th Carmona-USA Fiesta

Once again, Carmonians from California, Australia, Washington State, New York, Arizona, Florida, and other parts of the US gathered together on March 19th in San Diego, CA to honor St. Joseph, and joyfully celebrated the 30th Carmona-USA Fiesta.

Thank you very much to the San Diegans for being excellent hosts — offering all the attendees with a very warm welcome, delicious food, joyful entertainment, fun games, etc. All your efforts and thoughtfulness are very much appreciated.

Thank you so much St. Joseph for all your blessings. Mabuhay ang “Carmonians”.

I have shared this news in my Facebook site but i am resending this again for those who do not have access to Facebook so that you too, will be updated:

According to Norie Loyola, Cecie (as they fondly call her) is sick with malignant tumor (Myoma) and needs financial help. Some of our classmates already sent their financial help in their own way and some already visited her in her home at Carmona.

I am personally seeing her this afternoon with my daughter. I will keep you all posted with her present condition after my visit.

Let us continue to pray for her condition to improve.

Unforgettable Summer 2010

So many meaningful events in such a short period of time — Roy’s and Dahlia’s Inaugurations, Bea’s Debutante’s Ball, GJ/Uchie’s and April/Dan’s Weddings, Celebrations of Lives of two very close relatives –Tia Lagring and Tia One – these are the major events of summer 2010 for most of us. In addition, there are trips to coastal resorts, birthday celebrations, basketball games, tennis matches, target shooting, cart racing, bar/hotel hopping, SPAs, golf, shopping, side trips to HK/Macau, etc, etc. It is tiring just to look at the list of what ensued but we did all that in a span of a few weeks mostly in the hot and humid PI weather (with a touch of rain and typhoon Basyang).

How did we do it in such a meaningful and joyful passion? Of course, the true and sincere closeness of native Carmonians, who I’m sure are all related (blood or otherwise), made the biggest difference. You gather Carmonians and what do you get, continuous joyfulness and unending excitement to be together once again. I’m sure if we can only put time on a standstill, we’ll do it in a second just because we genuinely enjoy each other’s company and our truest sense of belonging and sharing.

We will always remember the summer of 2010 – the events brought us much closer that will make future gatherings even more meaningful and fun. Until next time, take care always.

A Carmonian Congressman

From humble beginnings like our hometown of Carmona herself, a national star is rising —- Atty. Roy M. Loyola — 1^st Carmonian Congressman – 5^th District of Cavite. Borrowing from the adage, “It takes a village to raise a child”, Roy was born and raised in our once sleepy town of Carmona and like most of us, his upbringing was influenced by the whole Carmona community. He is indeed the pride of our hometown and may his past, current, and future successes inspire all of us.

Let us send him off to Congress to represent all of us with our very best wishes that his humanitarian initiatives will be mostly unopposed, and the challenges that will come his way are only those that are manageable.

GODspeed Congressman Roy!

PS – quick update on our fundraising plans – some of us will be meeting with propective recipients of our donations in the next couple of months, i.e., Carmona Elem. School, etc., to identify opportunities to help. We’ll keep you posted and hopefully with the Ayala Foundation tie up that I mentioned in previous blog, we’ll make it happen. More detailed information to follow – looking forward to your active participation.

The sudden passing of Pol, really hit our community on its core. It is so hard to accept that his life with us was taken away so suddenly — a difficult reminder how fragile life is. It is still so vivid in my memories how joyful Pol was, his bouncy/lively moves, his very positive attitude, the great and inspiring words you hear from him whether you are in front of him or just hearing his comments from other people. He was indeed true to himself, true to his friends, and kababayans.

At Saturday’s viewing, I personally felt that Pol was very happy because he was surrounded by his immediate family, enormous friends and kababayans. I’ve never seen a more complete attendance of International Carmonians before. But of course it was a different calling – we were there to honor the beautiful life of our dear friend, Pol.

I’m hoping that Susan, Karen, Ryan, and all of us will find strenght in knowing that Pol’s memories and great spirit will be with us forever.

Pol, until we meet again……..

Saturday’s 29th Fiesta was a wonderful culmination of the efforts not only by SF Carmonians but also by the active participation of Carmonians from all over the US and Canada. It was a showcase of who we are — Full Blooded Carmonians — overflowing with hospitality, joy, and talent.

Let’s all be thankful to St. Joe’s and to one another for Saturday’s joyful togetherness, and look forward to the 30th in San Diego.

Mabuhay ang Carmonians! As what Mandel Medina said, ” I’m not a Filipino- American, I’m a Carmonian”.

PS – I hope the out of towners got home safe.

I just want to extend my congratulations to the Fiesta coordinators. You did a wonderful job!!!. My husband, Rick Tenerowicz, enjoyed the whole event. He commented,” I can appreciate the amount of time and effort that people put into it.” I also want to extend my thanks to the program participants from San Diego and L.A. area. Indeed, this Fiesta was put up by the whole Carmonians, not just by the Northern Californians. The kids and the young adults were impressive. The food was excellent and Boy! a lot of it. The Russian music was very lively that made you want to get up and dance. Good choice. Thank you very much to all who worked behind the scene(from decoration, set-up, clean-up, kitchen ) I am sure that everyone had a good time (the fruit of your labor). KUDOS TO EVERYONE.
